Here we have a unique piece of work. Miley Cyrus, the girl that started out as a 12 year old acting on Hannah Montana, is now 17 and showing some skin. Do we care? Apparently, parents do. So it seems as if if Cyrus wasn't able to do what she wants in her music videos because of these complaints parents are making. Of course, those complaints are natural, I mean, 8 year old girls look up to her, which really pressures her being a role model.
In my opinion, I got to say, I could care less what she does. The girl is obviously capable of taking this criticism since this is her like 3rd video including sexual content. I actually just watched the video today since I read ALL OVER THE INTERNET that this video was outrageously inappropriate. So I watched it, and I actually thought it was good, too bad I don't like her music. But at the end, I thought to myself "that wasn't that bad". I mean, for her video to be reviewed in such circumstances all over the net, I have to say people seriously overreact these days.
I don't pay attention to what she does, I don't care for her actions, and I literally don't want to hop on the wagon with all these other critics thrashing on her. But all this tension can really mess things up in one's life and I say that this video isn't that bad. People, especially parents with young children will obviously be upset about it, since their children always watch her disney channel tv show "Hannah Montana". But she has a life apart from that, and I feel she can do whatever she wants with that, and choose whether to decide to be a role model or not.
Miley.
Risks are nothing new. They've been forcing people to put all their stakes on one radical decision with an unclear outcome for centuries. Sometimes you get good results, but other times, Lady Luck looks the other way and something bad could happen, regardless of how valiant your efforts are, like getting poo in your eye - that would be unfortunate. Not sure about the risk you'd be taking which would land you with possible eye-poo marriage, but... oh dear... this review has deteriorated somewhat, yes? Right, back on subject.
Miley Cyrus took a risk with her new album. A risk that, had she not taken, fans and casual listeners alike would've brushed her aside yet again as a simple ten-year old girl's idol under the name of Hannah Montana. But instead, Miley took that risk, made the jump, etc., etc., and fell flat on her face. Not that she wanted to, and not that she had to either, because her two single offerings from 'Can't Be Tamed' so far illustrate that it is a very solid attempt at becoming more 'grown-up' singer. Unfortunately, their were quite a few similarities between the new image and lead single 'Can't Be Tamed' and a certain blonde bombshell currently drawing the blue-print for musical world domination, and the public made this connection and cast Miley off as a nothing more than a nasally-voiced copy-cat.
'Who Owns My Heart?' is the second single release from Miley third album, 'Can't Be Tamed', which alone says she's trying her hand at being grown-up, ditching the guitars and the soft country rock for heavily dance-influenced electropop with complimentary synths and auto-tune. 'Who Owns My Heart?' follows that trend, with scoops of sexy lyricism and a much darker, "filthy pop" sound. There's also many points during the song where Miley mentions that "art" may be the mysterious owner of her heart. This means GaGa's "little monsters" will most likely make the link between this song a GaGa "legacy of music and art" because she "said it first".
And yes, I am quoting the "monsters" themselves.
Ignoring comparisons to GaGa, 'Who Owns My Heart?' is a bona-fide dance floor anthem that'll probably sell very well in continental Europe rather than the UK. It's got references to masterpieces, the dance floor, you, Miley, a heart... the usual jazz.
Creation shows me what to do
and here are the lyrics :
I'm dancing on the floor with you
And when you touch my hand
I go crazy, yeah
The music tells me what to feel
I like you now
But is this real
By the time we say goodnight
I'll know if this is right
And I feel you (you) coming through my veins.
Am I into you (you) or is it music to blame?
Who owns my heart
Is it love or is it art
'Cause the way you got your body movins got me confused
And I can't tell if it's the beat or sparks
Who owns my heart
Is it love or is it art
You know I wanna believe that we're a masterpiece
But sometimes it's hard to tell in the dark
Who owns my heart
The room is full
But all I see is the way
Your eyes just blaze through me
Like fire in the dark
We're like living art
And it hits me
Like a tidal wave
Are you feeling me?
Or is the music to blame?
Who owns my heart
Is it love or is it art
'Cause the way you got your body movins got me confused
And I can't tell if it's the beat or sparks
Who owns my heart
Is it love or is it art
You know I wanna believe that we're a masterpiece
But sometimes it's hard to tell in the dark
Who owns my heart
So come on, baby
Keep on roping me
Keep on roping me
Like a rodeo
Baby, hold me close
Come on
Here we go (x3)
And it hits me
Like a tidal wave
Are you feeling me
Or is the music to blame
Who owns my heart
Is it love or is it art
'Cause the way you got your body movins got me confused
And I can't tell if it's the beat or sparks
Who owns my heart
Is it love or is it art
You know I wanna believe that we're a masterpiece
But sometimes it's hard to tell in the dark
Who owns my heart
